Ghazir Wastewater Treatment Plant

Ghazir Wastewater Treatment Plant is funded by the Council of Development and Reconstruction in Lebanon. The plant will treat the sewage produced by most of the coast of Kesrouane area and treat it before discharging to the sea. The project is part of an aggressive new plan of protecting Lebanon’s water resources and marine life. The project is also planning to achieve the LEED Silver accreditation and has incorporated green roofs and sustainable engineering ideals into its master plan and operations.

This project included a full flood mitigation study, as well as the proposal and design of any engineering solutions. The flood mitigation study started with a full hydrological assessment and analysis of existing and post-development scenarios, then a full hydraulic assessment and analysis was done. After the completion of the hydrological and hydraulic assessments, a flood risk assessment was completed before the design of an internal drainage system of the project area to mitigate the effect of any local flooding.
