Muhayel-Bareq Road
The Muhayel-Bareq road spans over 55 km and connects the two major cities of Muhayel and Bareq located in the Governate of Abha in the south of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The existing road has been known to undergo overtopping of water carried by intersecting streams during extreme storm events, thus blocking traffic movement between the two cities. The Municipalities of Muhayel and Bareq are planning to construct a new road parallel to the existing road and accordingly assigned TB Associates to assess the adequacy and conditions of the existing hydraulic structures along with proposing adequate solutions to protect both the existing and proposed road from flood risk. The solutions proposed by TB Associates included a number of bridges and culverts across the road that would mitigate the effect of any potential flood on the road.
