UAE Eastern Region Flood Mitigation & Storm Water Harvesting

The Eastern region flood mitigation project included the detailed hydrological and hydraulic assessment of the regions of Murbah, Qidfa, Sakamkam, and Dadnah in the eastern region of UAE. The project includes the design and assessment of over 30 dams, 15 channels, and several ponding areas and culverts. The project included the 2D hydraulic model of each region in both existing and post development conditions. In total, over 300 Km² was modeled and studied. TB Associates was tasked with a full flood mitigation study, as well as the proposal and design of any engineering solutions. The flood mitigation study started with a full hydrological assessment and analysis of existing and post-development scenarios, then a full hydraulic assessment and analysis was done. After the completion of the hydrological and hydraulic assessments, a flood risk assessment was completed before the design of an internal drainage system of the project area to mitigate the effect of any local flooding.
