NEOM: Aqaba 1,2,6, & Western Mountains Wind Farms

The NEOM windfarms project are divided into four areas which includes Aqaba 1, 2, 6, and the western mountains area. In total the project area spans over approximately 550 Km², and it includes over 300 wind turbines which are planned to feed NEOM with sustainable energy. The project scope included the 2D hydraulic modeling of the region in both existing and post development conditions, then proposing adequate engineering solutions to protect the proposed turbines and roads.

TBA was tasked with a full flood mitigation study, as well as the proposal and design of any engineering solutions. The flood mitigation study started with a full hydrological assessment and analysis of existing and post-development scenarios, then a full hydraulic assessment and analysis was done. After the completion of the hydrological and hydraulic assessments a flood risk assessment was completed before the design of an internal drainage system of the project area to mitigate the effect of any local flooding.
